"Do you think America should change the age restrictions on drinking and buying cigarettes?"

I don't think America should renovate the law to change the legal smoking age and drinking age to no age restrictions. If America changes their law to make it legal to buy alcohol and cigarettes at 21 there could be many accidents. When you're under the age of 21 you're still developing,  even when you're above 21 you're still developing. When you start to drink and smoke at a young age that can mess up your development and increase many risks of things. It can increase the risk of addiction, mental health disorders, and your body can start shutting down. If we keep the age 21+ it helps reduce early addiction and problems it limits access to high school students who might otherwise obtain these substances from 18-year-olds.

Keeping the age 21+ is extremely important for safety. Teenagers can start driving at the age of sixteen. Young teenagers already have higher crash rates due to inexperience, and including alcohol would significantly increase the risk of deadly accidents. If America were to change the age limit to having no limit it would be extremely brazen and not that smart.  Lowering the drinking age would likely lead to more impaired driving and more preventable deaths. Of course there will still be drunk driving accidents in America but it wouldn't be as high if America changed their law.

A pro on this law is that many kids can have alcohol and smoke anytime they want. Teenagers steal alcohol and things to smoke so if America lowered the age, drinking might become less associated with breaking rules like stealing. It would be more associated with responsibility , supervised use, potentially reducing unsafe or excessive behavior among young adults. This could  help teens learn moderation instead of feeling pressure to hide the way they behave. Over time, this could become something where drinking is seen as a normal responsibility rather than a rebellious act.

A big reason people think that the drinking and smoking age should be lowered in America is because it would make the rules more fair and amicable. This means that it's more reasonable and easier for people to agree with. And a law every teenager would like. When someone turns 18, they are seen as an adult and can do things adults do. They can vote, sign important papers, serve on a jury, and even join the military to get themselves a house. But they aren't  allowed to buy alcohol or cigarettes. A lot of people say that 18-year-olds are trusted to make serious decisions, they should also be trusted to choose whether they want to drink or smoke. Lowering the age would make the law feel more equal, amicable, and more fair  for young adults.
