"Imaginary Poem," by Maria M.

There is nothing but trees for as far as the eye can see.

I had been wandering in the woods for hours now,

One second im traversing a local hiking trail,

Next second I am falling off a steep ledge.

I tried to stop my decent,

Grasping at tree roots and rock,

But to no avail.

Now I am lost in the middle of the woods,

No food, no water, and no way to call for help.

The air smells fresher than ever before,

It's probably been undisturbed for years.

The thrust that quenches my throat is the only thing guiding me,

In hopes of hearing the beautiful sound of a fresh water stream.

Instead all I find is a small dirty pond that I don’t dare taste.

Hopefully I will find my way back soon,

Only God knows how long I can last out here.
